Integrating sustainability into your strategy is important to future proof your business. The challenge of embedding sustainability into an organisation requires engaging, empowering and inspiring awareness and actions across every level in the business, aligning around a clear purpose and strategy, to instil a sense of responsibility in order to address critical sustainability gaps. We will look at how leaders can integrate sustainability into the governance structures, targeting priorities and commitments to action; and also what are the steps needed to constitute change, recognize practical approaches, coupled with triple bottom line tools that evaluate performance and the impact of the organization's activities.

Session One: The context for sustainability
Why must we embed sustainability into businesses? Why CSR? Why ESG is here to stay (Environmental, Social and Governance)?

Session Two: Materiality and impact identification
Why is it critical to embed sustainability into corporate functions and business units? Defining impacts across value chains and functions through materiality assessment tools.

Session Three: Top-down governance and prioritized targets
The alignment of sustainability actions with corporate value and business strategy

Session Four: Institutional change on sustainability strategy
Walking the talk on sustainability strategy requires strategies and tools for achieving institutional change, and what are the operational standards to ensure consistency, and how does bottom up management apply to this

Session Five: End to end performance tracking
Triple bottom line and sustainable performance measurement across every level even including R&D to Marketing

Session Six: Impact measurement and transparency
Having an impact measurement provides proof of their impact and to be able to be more transparent on the gaps in their strategy

Dr. Niven Huang is the Regional Leader for KPMG Sustainability Services and KPMG ESG Asset Management Services, taking care of the Asia Pacific region.
He is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of ASrIA (The Association of Sustainable and Responsible Investment in Asia). Dr. Huang is a pioneer in Taiwan for promoting CSR, sustainability reporting, SRI, corporate sustainability strategy and carbon management.

Before joining KPMG, he was the Secretary General of the Business Council for Sustainable Development in Taiwan (BCSD-Taiwan) for 16 years during 1997 to 2013 and regularly presents on sustainability topics in Taiwan and internationally.

He sits in the judge panels of several public and private Awards of CSR, Excellence in Environment, and Sustainability in Taiwan and Asia, and a part time associate professor of several universities in Taiwan, including the most leading advanced MBA and EMBA at National Cheng Chi University (since 2008). He also specialises in technical background in fluidisation combustion technology. He received the Ph.D. degree of Chemical Engineering from Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan.
